 | On September 18, 1962, Khaoyai was declared the first national park in Thailand along with 14 other national parks. Khaoyai is the third largest national park in Thailand, with an area of 2,168 square kilometers that covers parts of four provinces. The fertile forests are composed of hill evergreen forests, dry evergreen forests, mixed deciduous forests and grasslands. Four important canals originate at Khaoyai, which nourish some areas in the central part of Thailand and Isan. |
Khaoyai is well known among Thais and foreigners for beautiful natural sceneries.That includes Hew Suwat Waterfall, which was filmed in “The Beach” , Hew Narong waterfall, The Lonely Cliff etc... These sights make Khaoyai a perfect retreat for nature lovers. Khaoyai was declared as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2005.
